What’s up MuRFers?!? I hope everyone’s been keeping warm in this recent brutal cold.  What keeps me warm is daydreaming about this coming Spring.  We are super excited to announce that we will be hosting the Muddy Rivers Festival (MuRF) again this year for our fifth consecutive year! The dates are March 23-25, 2018.  This go round, however will be a bit different from year’s past.

We will still host a beginner’s paddle on Class 1-2 Upper Spring Creek Saturday morning. We will still host the “King of the Spring” race down the class 3+ Spring Creek Gorge.  We will still host a demo court where you can try any Jackson and Liquidlogic boat available.  We will still host a Freestyle Kayak and ramp competition at Hehnen Hole.  We will still have live music and fun at the festival grounds. We will still go off on waterfall hikes and kayaking expeditions to nearby Clear Creek, and Blackburn Fork.

So what’s different? We have changed our location. This change has been in the works for the last couple years. We were hoping to find something a little more personal, and family friendly, especially because, several of us have started families since the birth of MuRF. The location we chose is The Old Mill General Store and Campground across from Cummins Falls State Park. This place is BRAND SPANKING NEW! With electricity at every site and water at most sites no one should be in the dark.  The bands will play in the parking lot behind the General Store.

Also the campground is directly across the street from the main entrance to the State Park.  Cummins Falls State Park is Tennesee’s newest State Park and is home the the 45 ft Cummins Falls on the Blackburn Fork River, which is a tributary of the roaring river.  Just below the falls is an awesome wading and swimming hole and the put in for the Class 3 Gorge run.  We invite everyone to go and explore this awesome park while they’re with us.
